I was invited to attend the Moet & Chandon's Sex In The City 2 Private Screening in Hollywood at the Mann's Chinese Theater, with DJ Eque. All the ladies had their shoe game on! I of course could not attend without wearing my "Chanel's" along with the Chanel earrings and clutch, I felt like "Cheyenne Bradshaw, LOL! Eque was rocking some HAWT shoes she purchased in Paris (see photo below) In Attendance with us was Monica Payne and Shelly Oto from "Honey Collective". I don't want to spoil the movie. However, Sex In The City 2 is A MUST SEE! I was sitting at the edge of my seat during the whole movie. There is NOT a dull moment. Having said that, Ladies I encourage you to put on your Louis Vuitton's, Chanel's, Christian Dior's, Jimmy Choo's, Alexander McQueen's, Manolo Blahnik or Christian Louboutin and go and see Sex In The City 2

Hot Girls in Marina Del Rey....

May 22nd, Still celebrating my birthday (I am celebrating all month). I decided to rent a boat in Marina Del Rey. I extended an invitation to Mechelle Epps, Ky Ziegler, Sacha Kemp and Akeisa Fergins. As all of were meeting on the pier I noticed a beautiful older woman...and to my surprise it was Nechelle Nicolos from Star Trek. We approacehed her and asked if she would be so kind to join us in a photo? she replied "I would love to" We all found her to be so pleasant. Talk about aging gracefully...Nechelle is BEAUTIFUL! Before we left the pier in our boat we were instructed not to crash the boat and to watch out for the water sheriff. I was the captain driving the boat, then I turned it over to Ky, lastly it was turned over to Sacha...who crashed into a group of guys that were Kayaking, it was classic...I could not stop laughing. However, no one was hurt. Thank God. As we would pass the Big Yachts, they would ask us to part our boat and join them. We had it cracking in Marina Del Rey! Please check out photos below.

Saturday, May 8th I celebrated my Birthday Dinner Party at Crustaceans. We had a private room in the VIP area with the VIP entrance. The accommodations, food and services was perfect! Mothers Day....Have you ever wonder why we celebrate Mothers and why we picked a certain day to do so? The concept is actually a modern one, and it's a counterpart of Father's Day. It is believed that the ancient Greeks had a concept of honoring mothers and that has carried over into modern times. The day was made an official holiday by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914, and has been celebrated ever since then. Now, let me tell you why it's so special to me. As growing up, I was blessed with the pleasure of having two Mothers in my life, Wanda Bowie and Jackie Younger. They both taught me love, integrity, patience, thoughtfulness, dedication, to be nurturing, have great positive energy and to accomplish your goals. I was taught how to cook (I am great cook, they call me the Black Martha Stewart). Keep a clean house and to be a well rounded women. When I was blessed enough to have my own child (Dre Bowie) It was the most beautiful day in my life. There is nothing more precious than the love of a Mother and her child. I took all that was taught to me and became the Mother I am today. I love being a Mother, that is the most important role in my life. I love my son. I love seeing the Man that he has grown into today. All the positive influence that I was brought up with has been instilled in his life. I have learned that Motherhood is no walk in the park! However, I would not trade it in for anything in the world. INTERVIEW

I have chosen to interview Cheyenne Martin. Cheyenne is not only a woman leader she is my relative. Cheyenne grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and went to public schools. She made her way out of our community to come back and give other young women hope and plenty insight. She became such an inspirational leader and the President of her own companies. Cheyenne came a long way through her journey and I’m proud to have the opportunity to introduce:

LEADERSHIP JOURNEY

How did you get interested in your current position?

I have always been mesmerized with the Entertainment Industry since I was a young girl. I then made the leap from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams as an actress. After I open the doors and became a working actress/model, I wanted to know more about behind scenes. I started to take an interest in becoming an agent/manager. It has always been my dream to be a President/CEO of my own Company. I interned for a top agency in Beverly Hills, and then I worked with a successful Management Company, Stephany Hurkos, which led me to finally open up my management Company, Cheyenne Martin Management, IndianGoddess Entertainment, Inc. and Emerald City Films.

How has leadership played a role in your life?

Leadership has allowed me many opportunities as a President/Ceo and a woman. People respect leaders.

What was your first experience as a leader?

I was always a leader. When I was in school, I would be the leader in my group and class. I was a leader amongst my friends. I can say my real first professional experience, as a leader is when I worked for Berry Gordy, owner and founder of Motown records. I was instrumental in organizing Motown 30. I took my responsibilities serious. I had something to prove as a young woman. I sat in the leader seat along side with Akeisa Fergins and made it what it was…Motown 30, Mr. Gordy was very impressed.

What educational and professional experience did you have that prepared you for work?

I attend Contra Costa College in Oakland California and The Pittsburgh Playhouse in Pittsburgh. I also took the time to study my craft and everything that I had to with the acting industry daily. I felt the need to learn from the best. I worked under Power Agents and Mangers who have Oscar winning talent on their roster. I study their every move. I believe that hands on experience are one of the best teachers to prepare you for career and leadership.

Has your journey as a leader ever changed directions?

Never! I have always been on the same path in the leader’s seat.

Have you had any mentors? If so, what did you learn from them?

Yes, Stephany Hurkos is my mentor, she is a wonderful. Stephany has a very successful Management Company. I have learned how to make deals, network within my industry and most of all turn actors in to Movie Stars. I live by this; Actors go hungry…but Movie STARS have EVERYTHING!
I would like to explain; Actors…everyone is or can be an actor, there are several out of work actors and they go hungry, meaning that they are out of work….but Movie STARS, those are the ones that I enjoy managing because they have EVERYTHING! Meaning they can pick and choose the projects that they work on, they are offered movie contracts, modeling contracts, overseas commercial and etc…so they have EVERYTHING in my opinion!

As a woman, what challenges have you faced?

I feel as a woman, I am not respected to make decisions as a man would. I also feel that men/women are intimidated of my career and financially security.
I have noticed that there have been times in my journey as a manager that influential individuals don’t respect my position, because my company is so new (five years). Therefore, I have to work hard to prove myself. Then I get the respect that I deserve once they see my full potential. I have taken a small management company and built it from the ground up…and it’s still growing. My hard work speaks for itself. However, I can tell you that I love a challenge. There has never been a challenge that I have turned away from. I believe in dealing with the challenge head on and conquering them. I firmly believe that it makes you a stronger person.

Day to day life as an Activist?

I get up every morning with a mind set to overcome any and all challenges/obstacles that might come my way. I believe in my self worth and the woman that I have grown to be. I make sound decisions as a Manager, Producer and for my Film Company. I stand firm behind my decisions word.

What is a typical day and week like for you?

A typical day and week is crazy. I have to start my day with answering e-mails. I have to work the breakdowns in finding work; featured films, commercial, sitcoms and modeling for my clients. I am working with a few bankable clients (named clients). I work closely with our Publicist. I have to keep up with my clients PR (publicist). I have meetings, Hollywood events that I must attend with or without clients. Dealing with massive phone calls. Also making calls to Casting Directors, Producers and Directors. While in the same breath dealing with actors who submit themselves to my company that are in need representation. It is very important for me to make sure that my clients are well respected, so I have to accompany my clients while on set. My week is filled with all of the above. I can’t forget that I have a new Entertainment company; I am looking for new projects to produce. Also, I have started a new Film company, I have a project that I am creating and writing. I am really interested in true stories. I search the Internet daily looking for projects. I am trying to find a story to so that I may get a deal with HBO. So there it is, a week in Cheyenne Martin’s shoes….hard shoes to walk in.

Do you mostly work alone and/or in groups?

I am still searching for the perfect assistant.
Working in this industry, you have to have thick skin. I have not found an assistant with thick skin as of yet. I am also very meticulous and I need things done in a timely manner. I was told that I run my company with a rod iron. Having said that, I work alone for now.

As a woman leader how have you achieved success?

I’ve achieved success by three words: motivation, determination and consistency! The more I wanted success the harder I worked for it!

What major roles and responsibilities do you have?

My major role and responsibility is to pick the right project for my clients, keep my clients working and to make sure that they are well compensated for their talent. Remember what I live by; Actors go hungry…but Movie STARS have EVERYTHING! It is very important to take my clients to stardom!

What is most challenging about your work?

The most challenging part is making sure my clients make sound decisions in his or her career. It’s very important to make sure clients are well compensated. It’s very challenging to find them work. I have to make sure that they are well prepared when they go and meet with casting director, producer and directors.

What is the most rewarding part of your work?

It is very rewarding when I can see my client in a major film, commercial and modeling campaign. It will be rewarding when I can cash this million-dollar check I wrote out to myself a year ago.

How much time do you spend working or thinking about leadership?

I think, eat and sleep leadership. That should show you how serious I am about leadership and succeeding in my career.

Where have you found support?

I have support with my family, friends and peers.

How do you find/make balance in your life?

I have to be honest; I don’t have any balance in my life. I work on late hours; I work on Saturday and Sundays. So there is no balance in my life. I am constantly thinking how I can have a successful management company and entertainment company.

How does your work fit with your identity, values and etc?

Everything falls right in place.

How would you rate the stress level in your work as a leader?

The stress level is high. However, you have to have a love for your craft/career as a leader.

ADVICE

What would you recommend for someone interested in being a leader?

Being a leader consists of someone who can rule, guide and inspire others. These are the foundations of what leadership consists of. If you have these attributes you will succeed in life as a leader.

What advice would you give to young women/men aspiring to be leaders?

My best advice is to be professional use wisdom. Have a pleasant delivery in dialect. Be prepared for challenges; be prepared to have your authority questioned. However, make sound choices and commit to them.

On Monday, April 12th, 2010 – a few days after missing woman Monica Renee Bowie’s birthday – we are planning to get the media to spotlight her case again. On this day, we ask that you join us in bombarding news stations, radio stations and local newspapers of Atlanta with flyers, websites, articles, photos – any information we have on Monica until her story is heard again.

The last time we heard about Monica was September of 2007…over 2 year overdue for an update. Will you join us in getting the word out about Monica again?

"Exclusive" I Couldn't Resist.....

Below is a interview that D.Woods wrote for Global Grind on April 16th, 2010.

Walking into Destination 1610 in Santa Monica, CA, I immediately got the feeling like I was gonna be there a while. Not in a bad way, the atmosphere was very stylish, layed back and at the same time poppin off like a house party.

Joe Exclusive, the celebrity stylist and owner of Destination 1610 heard from my Acting manager Cheyenne Martin that I was coming in town and invited me to the facility for some fun and fashion, I couldnt resist.

After being greeted at the door with a specialty cocktail, Joe took me over to the rack of clothes and let me have a field day. Of course he had to make sense of it all, I was just pulling anything that looked good to me without any censorship.

We decided on three solid looks and I went into hair and make up. This is where the fun really started. The combination of my imagination and the glam squad's, the music blasting (courtesy of yagirlDwoods), the drinks and surprise guests was all captureed by photographer Antoine Revelle. But what I like the most is Joe's ability to capture these different sides of me and continue the imagery for The Gray Area and this next phase for me. Thanks Joe! oh and i hope my heels didnt scratch your yellow Farrari. LOL!

The foundation was started by former NBA player Juaquin Hawkins. Hoops 4 HOPE LA foundation is dedicated after school programming, youth basketball programming, mentoring and HOPE;

The celebrity basketball game was at the famous Staple Center. So many celebrities came out for the event. The kids were so happy and it was a great turn out for charity. Christian Keyes sang the national anthem...that boy can saanngg! I got a chance to meet Juaquin Hawkins, in my opinion he is such a humble guy with a good heart. You can tell this charity is near and dear to his heart. He has such an amazing story, I shared with him that I have a history of stokes in my family. I told my clients and they wanted to get involved. D.Woods was a special guest on the MO'NIQUE show, performing her hit song "LEGALIZE ME"
D.Woods will be talking about life after "MTV, Making the Band" and "Danity Kane". "I had to suck it up and bow out gracefully", she explained. So that's kind of how I dealt with it. And my mother, set a wonderful example. I am glad that I had a great teacher, she was proud of how I handled it.

She said what she learned from the experience was watching Diddy mold Danity Kane into a chart-topping success. THE COLOR PURPLE in Los Angeles, CA. The COLOR PURPLE is a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize –winning novel by Alice Walker and the film by Steven Spielberg. Fantasia gives a moving performance, the girl and ACT and SING! I also enjoyed actress, Felicia P. Fields who played "Sophia" she was amazing and funny. One of the highlights of my evening was being able to meet with one of my favorite R&B singers, Chaka Khan. Who is a lovely beautiful woman. The Pantages was filled with celebrities such as Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Monique Coleman, Della Resse, Bishop Nole Jones, Robi Reed, Tasha Smith, Tisha Campbell, Elise Neal, Keith Robinson, Shanice, Clifton Powel, Kim Whitley, Sheryl Lee, Erica Hubbard and Naturi Naughton. Black History Month Salutes Gloria Hendry

As you know, Every week for the Month of February, I am doing a tribute to an African American. I was exploring possibilities, who would I spotlight on my 2^nd week of Black History Month. I wanted to talk about someone who has paved the way for African American Actresses and have changed this country despite the many odds against them. I wanted someone who is Beautiful, Intelligent and an Influential Black Women. Someone who has made history…who better to spotlight then my client “Gloria Hendry”

Born in Winter Haven, Florida, raised in Newark, New Jersey. Gloria excelled academically, in various sports and played the violin throughout her education and in the Essex County All-City Orchestra. While nightly attending the Essex College of Business for Law School, she spun off her career during the day performing TV commercials, voiceovers, photo –illustrative modeling and doing runway fashion shows. Gloria’s first job was an assistant to the legal secretary in the New York office of the NAACP. She then applied in illustrious New York Playboy Club and became one of the first African American Playboy Bunnies.

There she was spotted by various writers, advertising agents, managers and casting directors, who later casted her in “For the love of Ivy” with Sidney Poitier and Abbey Lincoln, which was her first film.

Gloria, is perhaps best known for portraying the BOND GIRL, Rosie Carver in the James Bond film “Live and Let Die”. In the film, she became and made history being the first African American Women to become romantically involved with ‘007 (Roger Moore). She is not however, the first African American Bond girl: that title went to Trina Parks. When the film was first released in South Africa, her love scenes with Roger Moore were cut out because the Apartheid government prohibited it.

Gloria, was then introduced as one of the first female action leads, along with beginnings of Independent Film making. She starred in “Black Caesar”, “Hell up in Harlem”, both with Fred Williamson, “Black Belt Jones”, she portrayed the martial arts expert, Sydney with Jim Kelly (whom I personally had a crush on when he was in the film Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee, both of these actors were my crush). “Slaughters Big Rip Off”, with Jim Brown, “Bare Knuckles” and “Savage Sisters” one of my personal favorites. Gloria has done several guest starring roles in televisions shows such as, Doogie Howser, Falcon Crest, and As the World Turns just to name a few.

A violinist, a tennis player, a model, a playboy bunny, a singer, a stage actress, a director, a producer, a writer, an author and most especially, a ‘007 James Bond African American women who has open the door for others such as, Halle Berry to play a love scene with James Bond. I salute you, respect you and thank you for your contribution to history.

How did Black History Month Begin?

I am proud to be a part of Black History Month. I wanted to lend my voice and blog to lift up the African American Heritage Month. Each week for the month of February, I will be doing a tribute blog on a African American Movie Star! Having said that, I am so happy that I am alive and be part of history to see the first African American President, Barack Obama. I was wondering to myself, how did black history month begin? I felt compelled to find out this information for my readers. After extensive research, I discovered that Black history begun in 1926. In 1915 Dr. Carter G. Woodson and Rev. Jesse E. Moorland co-founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH). Their goal was to research and bring awareness to the largely ignored, yet crucial role black people played in American and world history. The following year, Woodson published and distributed his findings in The Journal of Negro History. He founded the publication with the hope that it would dispel popular mistruths. He also hoped to educate black people about their cultural background and instill them with a sense of pride in their race.

The son of former slaves and the second black person to receive a degree from Harvard University, Carter Woodson understood the value of education. He also felt the importance of preserving one’s heritage and, upon his urgings, the fraternity Omega Psi Phi created Negro History and Literature Week in 1920. In 1926, Woodson changed the name to Negro History Week. He selected the month of February for the celebration as a way to honor of the birth of two men whose actions drastically altered the future of black Americans. Abraham Lincoln, the U.S. President who issued the Emancipation Proclamation was born on February 12th and Frederick Douglass, one of the nation’s leading abolitionists was born on February 14th.

Woodson and the ANSLH provided learning materials to teachers, black history clubs and the community at large. They also published photographs that depicted important figures in black culture, plays that dramatized black history, and reading materials.

Dr. Carter Woodson died in 1950, but his legacy continued on as the celebration of Negro History Week was adopted by cities and organizations across the country. This observance proved especially important during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s, a time when the inhumane and unequal treatment of black people in America was being challenged and overturned.

Black History Month is now recognized and widely celebrated by the entire nation on both a scholarly and commercial level. The Association for the Study of African American Life and History continues to promote, preserve and research black history and culture year-round.

January 17, 1927 Eartha Kitt was born in the cotton fields of South Carolina. Miss Kitt was ostracized at an early age because of her mixed-race heritage. At eight years old, she was given away by her mother and sent from the South Carolina cotton fields to live with an aunt in Harlem. In New York her distinct individuality and flair for show business manifested itself, and on a friend's dare, the shy teen auditioned for the famed "Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe." She won a spot as a featured dancer and vocalist and before the age of twenty, toured worldwide with the company. During a performance in Paris, Miss Kitt was spotted by a nightclub owner and booked as a featured singer at his club. Her unique persona earned her fans and fame quickly, including Orson Welles, who called her "the most exciting woman in the world". Welles was so taken with her talent that he cast her as Helen of Troy in his fabled production of "Dr. Faust."

Broadway stardom led to a recording contract and a succession of best-selling records including "Love for Sale", "I Want to Be Evil", "Santa Baby" and "Folk Tales of the Tribes of Africa", which earned her a Grammy nomination. In 1967, Miss Kitt made an indelible mark on pop culture as the infamous "Catwoman" in the television series, "Batman." She immediately became synonymous with the role and her trademark growl became imitated worldwide. Singing in ten different languages, Miss Kitt performed in over 100 countries and was honored with a star on "The Hollywood Walk of Fame" in 1960.

Live theater was Miss Kitt's passion. On January 17 2007, Miss Kitt held a celebratory concert in honor of her 80th birthday at Carnegie Hall with a, JVC Jazz called "Eartha Kitt And Friends." One of my favorite characters that Eartha Kitt played was, cosmetics legend Lady Eloise, in director Reginald Hudlin’s 1992 movie, Boomerang, right, but especially the dinner sequence with advertising executive Marcus Graham, played by Eddie Murphy.

December 25, 2008, Eartha Kitt passed in Connecticut, at the age of 81, she’d spent over 60 years in show business, making indelible, absolutely unique and unforgettable impressions. Her outstanding vocals along with her curvaceous frame will forever be cherished for generations to come.

6th Annual Roots Jam Session

Of all the events that I went to Saturday January 30th, this one was the best by far! This event has the who's who of the music industry and entertainment in the building jump on stage and rock out. First let me start off with Estelle's performance, she was great! I also was impressed with D.Woods performance of 4 Non Blondes song "What's going on". She rocked it! I'm not the only one who thinks she gave a stellar performance, read on Blog from Urban Spin Online and Mediate columnists

Let's talk about the Roots band...WOW! That's all that needs to be said. I can't forget to mention the Sexiest DJ in this industry, DJ Eque! She was killin it! Born and raised in Queens, Tracey Dukes was raised by a single father who worked in the New York theater industry. By the time he was five, Tracey was nipping at his fathers heels sharing his aspirations to be an actor and writer. Still a somewhat shy child, by ten Tracey was writing plays as he waited for his father to finish his theater shifts , the Apollo being one. In his early teens, Tracey was acting in NYU student films while still imagining his own projects. Growing up quality time with his father always meant watching movies and Tracey studied the films as much as he watched them.

Tracey has had great success modeling for runway and print. His features include XXL, Source, Coogi catalogue, as well as runway work for BETs Rip The Runway event for Miami Fashion Week. His campaign work spans from Akoo to Sean Jean for whom he is currently a fit model. With plenty of experience in front of the camera as a model, Tracey is poised to take his success to the next level with his entrance into acting. Determined to be more than just another pretty face Tracey is focused on gaining as much acting experience as possible while continuing to develop his acting skills. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have turned 81 on January 15, 2010. Our nation honors our most prominent civil rights leaders every year on his birthday (observing the following Monday), making sure his “Dream” of service and equality for all races and creeds lives on.

What are you doing today to keep the dream alive?

Born January 15, 1929, Dr. King was an advocate for civil rights and equality, not only for African Americans, but also for all races and ethnicities. As a prominent leader in the civil rights movement in America during the 1960s, Dr. King lead the famous Montgomery Alabama Bus Boycott Movement, helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and then went on to lead the “March on Washington” where he delivered the world famous, “I Have a Dream” speech. Dr. King continued to be a peaceful warrior in fighting for equal rights until his assassination in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. His memory was finally honored with a national holiday in 1986.

People of all races, religions, ethnicities and creeds can benefit from the message he instilled in his listeners. We are all taught about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life as children; however, I encourage everyone to partake in an activity on this day to commemorate his life and message.

Congrats to MoNique for Winning Best Supporting Actress for the movie "PRECIOUS". Congrats to James Cameron for winning Best Motion Picture and Best Director for the movie "AVATAR" which by the way has made over a 1 Billion worldwide. James Cameron was on Oprah this past Friday, I really enjoyed his interview. He makes it known that dreams can come true. Sunday Night my clients, Karlie Redd, Mechelle Epps along Ky and DJ Eque attended the Tank & Tyrese Party. The party was also attended by P.Diddy, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, LaToya Luckett, John Singleton, F.Gary Gray, Steph Jones, Damian Hall, Slim from 112 and DeRay Davis just to name a few. All I can say is that event was in high Demand. It was in such a high demand and so many people were trying to get in that they had to shut down LaBrea Avenue at one point. Police were everywhere, helicopters were flying around. Tyrese you and Tank really know how to throw a party and bring out all the ladies. Myself and Shawn wanted to take the time to thank Cheyenne Martin, for her wonderful help and support she has been giving us on our blog site. Cheyenne is the President of her own Management firm entitled Cheyenne Martin Management. Her clients include D.Woods, Karlie Redd, Gloria Hendry, Dre Bowie, and Mechelle Epps just to name a few. She has currently opened up her own entertainment company entitled Indian Goddess Entertainment. Looking forward to many projects her and her clients have in store for the upcoming year.

Everyone is asking....WHO IS KARLIE REDD?????

Who is Karlie Redd? Karlie Redd was born in New York and raised with her West Indian family in Trinidad. Karlie is a singer, actress, and model. She has toured with Alvin Ailey Dance Company and by the age of 16 she was in over 40 commercials, movies, and modeling appearances. Karlie has done remixes to J.Holidays "Bed" & Jill Scott's "Hate On Me". She has worked with Sean Kingston, Claudette Ortiz of City High, Hot Dollar, KRS-One and many more. Karlie is apart of Cheyenne Martin Management alongside D.Woods they both will be in "We Are Family" which will be coming out later this year. Karlie 's Music Management is One Elephant. Karlie Redd was in Miami this weekend for New Years. She attend P Diddy's New Years Party. After photos of Karlie and Chris Brown started circulating, alot people had questions. Please read what Karlie Redd has to say below:

"I know a lot of you have seen the recent photos of me and Chris Brown circulating on the blogsites (YBF, Media Takeout).
I want to inform you all that we are strictly friends. We brought in 2010 together in Miami, Florida with friends a host of other friends. Diddy, Polo, Richgirl, Bow Wow...so much fun!

Who am I? Well, I am a singer, songwriter, actress and film director. I do A LOT! I'm currently in a film due out later this year called We Are Family and I'm also in talks with record companies to sign a recording contract. Short Film ONE NOTHING in the Hollywood Film Festival @ ArcLight Theaters

The short film ONE NOTHING has been accepted in the Hollywood Film Festival 2009. My client Dre and I attended the viewing at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood. One Nothing has seen some success as it has played at fourteen film festivals in both the U.S and Europe. I was proud to be in the audience as it was played at the 2009 Hollywood Film Festival this past Friday Oct. 23rd. Black Dynamite Premiere in Hollywood, CA

I was lucky enough to attend the Hollywood, CA premiere of BLACK DYNAMITE! I was laughing throughout the entire film. It was good. The film had a tribute to my client Gloria Hendry. Who was much involved in black exploitation films. Films such as, Black Ceaser, Black Belt Jones and Hell up in Harlem just to name a few. Please go check this film out you won't be disappointed. synopsis: This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House..

D.Woods "GRAY AREA"

D.Woods just had a successful listening party in Atlanta last week for her new CD entitled "GRAY AREA". Please read the blog that she wrote for Global Grind.

This is the moment we've all been waiting for!

I, D. Woods, will be releasing some music!!! Trust me boys and girls, I've been more anxious than you. Over the past year, I've existed in one of the most awkward situations yet in my life. Both loving and hating the profession I've chosen for myself, in bondage and then breaking free from contractual chains, both visible and obscure on the world stage, excited but also scared to death of what's to come. It was exactly as my attorney repeatedly described my termination from DK as while prying me out of the contract, "a gray area".

I was in limbo. I'm sure there are lots of artists and people in other lines of work feeling the same thing. In order to relate to others, I described my situation like the many who found themselves unemployed at the end of 2008 and throughout 2009. So what did you guys do while in your "gray area"? Some of you are still in it right?

Well what I did was what I've been doing since 3 years old, what I love doing and can't help but to do no matter what's happening, that's staying creative.

Reintroducing myself to myself, detoxing my psyche from the negative images, comments and stereotypes that were forced on me, and just letting everything I held back for the last 2 1/2 years flow, I ended up with the beginning of a body of work that is truly D.Woods. I say the beginning because the metamorphisis is still in progress. But I've come to realize that I'm not just doing this for me, I want those out there who've been rooting for me to see, hear and rock out to the work I've been doing.

So, on 12.08.09 Woodgrane Entertainment (that's my company yall ;) in partnership with Bonzi/Fontana UMD presents D.Woods' "The Gray Area" will be available online through all the online music stores! Thank you for hitting me up on twitter, myspace, if u saw me in the mall or late night at Kroger, booking me at ur clubs in your city etc.

It fueled the fire to get me through THE GRAY AREA! Xoxo!

My client, actress Toi Troutman will be featured on TVone's "UnSung"on November 2, 2009 at 8:00pm. along with her family, Snoop Dogg and DJ Quik. I know you remember the songs "Computer Love" and "California Love" featuring 2Pac and Dr. Dre. By the way, I was featured in the California Love Video. If your new to UnSung; it's a series that profiles some of the most influential, talented yet forgotten R&B, Soul and Gospel artists of the 1970's '80s and '90s. I watched the show before when they profiled Shalamar. UnSung shows the true story of Black music in America and runs much deeper. Make sure you check it out.

Point Foundation Charity Event in Hollywood, CA

I had the pleasure of attending the Point Foundation Charity in Hollywood. My client
Frenchie Davis was singing for the event. The Point Foundation provides financial support, mentoring, leadership training and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. The event was a class act 100%. I really enjoyed myself, not to mention that the food was outstanding (yummy) and I was able to meet one of my all time favorite actresses Lily Tomlin....I love her. Remember when she was in 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda, great movie. Another one of my favs is The Incredible Shrinking Woman. To date, she is on the hit show Desperate Housewives. After Frenchie sang "I'm Changing" she got a standing ovation. Frenchie is so talented, and can sing like nobody I have ever heard. Below are the photos from Point Foundation Charity Event.

Short Film "One Nothing" has been accepted at The Hollywood Film Festival. The film will be shown on October 23rd at 9:00 at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, California.

Synopsis:
Sometimes imagination is enough

It's a hot summer day in Los Angeles when a young African American man (Dre Bowie)

Climbs a fence to play basketball on opposing turf. He soon discovers he's being watched

by two Hispanics (Gabe Lozano, David Rusi) and must decided how to diffuse the tension between them. What follows is an unexpected encounter and revelation. Carmine Giovianzzo from CSI:NY Lab

has a cameo in the film.

A bold look at sterotypes, imagination and urban decay, "One Nothing" challenges us to look beyound the surface for new answers to old problems. And sometimes, imagination is enough.

We Are Family

D.Woods, Frenchie Davis and Karlie Lewis just completed working on a new comedy entitled "We Are Family" The plot: Six strangers are invited to a home under false pretense and eventually find out they are all brothers and sisters. I was on set while they were filming at a beautiful house in malibu. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the cast; Chyna Layne (Precious: Based on the novel Sapphire) a very talented actress, Monique Coleman (High School Musical), Christian Keyes (Actor/Model) and Omarosa of whom I thought was very pleasant. Everyone on set was professional and everything went smoothly. I enjoyed meeting and working the crew from Tri Destined Studios, Trey (Director), Jeff, Indie and Veronica. I also had the pleasure of meeting Gregory Anderson (Stomp the Yard). All in All the film is hilarious and I can't wait till the film hit Theaters 2010. Check out the press photos.
